Description
The international bestseller that inspired a major Nova special and sparked a new understanding of the universe, now with a new preface and epilogue.
Brian Greene, one of the world’s leading string theorists, peels away layers of mystery to reveal a universe that consists of eleven dimensions, where the fabric of space tears and repairs itself, and all matter―from the smallest quarks to the most gargantuan supernovas―is generated by the vibrations of microscopically tiny loops of energy. The Elegant Universe makes some of the most sophisticated concepts ever contemplated accessible and thoroughly entertaining, bringing us closer than ever to understanding how the universe works.
Very pleased with this purchase. Five stars.

I really liked this approach to knitting with yarn and string. Usually knitting books are more instructional but this one took a real theoretical approach to the fundamentals of strings and the process of knitting. Thanks Brian Greene!
4.5 out of 5 stars.
A good, layperson’s introduction to string theory by a prominent physicist. The NOVA specials on P.B.S. are better, but go here for some more meat. For someone like myself who is interested in physics but not scientifically or mathematically inclined, this is a good book on the subject.
I love reading Brian Greene even though the dude is way too advanced intellectually for me. Not his best book, but still damn, damn good in my book ( no pun intended), especially if you like to think and ponder about big stuff.
