Description
Nobel Prize-winner Roger Penrose, one of the most accomplished scientists of our time, presents the only comprehensive—and comprehensible—account of the physics of the universe.
A “guide to physics’ big picture, and to the thoughts of one of the world’s most original thinkers.”—The New York Times
From the very first attempts by the Greeks to grapple with the complexities of our known world to the latest application of infinity in physics, The Road to Reality carefully explores the movement of the smallest atomic particles and reaches into the vastness of intergalactic space.
Here, Penrose examines the mathematical foundations of the physical universe, exposing the underlying beauty of physics and giving us one the most important works in modern science writing.
I wish I had this book when starting engineering at UC Berkeley – the university gives you the process, but this book provide an invaluable context for so many concepts … if you read the first few pages of each concept then you are ready for the university lecture and homework! do not read cover to cover by check out the concept you are learning
A book in great shape. Returning to it to. Deepen my knowledge.
An excellent book to training human mind on discovering the truth hidden behind the culturally imposed believes.
The book arrived in the condition as described and I am very happy with the purchase.
Even though putatively written for the lay-person, with relatively light math, I won’t kid you: this is currently pretty hard reading because it is a deep look at deep physics and associated math.
At the same time, I recommend it because it is inspiring me to work harder to upgrade my higher math knowledge and it really is invaluable if you seriously want to (as I think Einstein said) “understand the mind of God”.
